The Cross of St. Ciricus
BBC Series Robin Hood
It's hard to really understand in modern times how nasty the medieval person thought a leper was. They thought it meant quick, nasty death. Much and Will run into lepers and panic, leaping naked into water to wash off every trace. In the meantime Robin and Marian play the "we don't want to talk about our love but maybe we feel it" game. Marian admits the past is still too close.
Will goes insane with his leper fears. You get a lot of talk about a magic cross that will heal lepers, which is of course the cross of St. Ciricus. They run into a nun who was under ambush. It turns out it was Guy's mother. She confesses to Tuck that she never loved her husband. She married a man secretly that she loved - but it turns out the husband was actually alive. The husband took in the child but hated him. It turns out that Guy's real father was the Earl of Huntington. Ah, the tangled webs we weave.
This becomes even more of a soap opera. Guy actually shows up at the location disguised as a leper to steal thecross, to reduce the area's power. He runs into his mom who tries to stop him. In short order Robin learns that Guy is his brother and Will learns that he is actually healthy. Now we get a long chase while Will tries to kill Guy and Robin tries to get there first. Now Guy ends up with Will but not the cross and wants to make a trade.
Of course they end up with both, and Guy runs off - but there's no real resolution.
