The Inheritance
BBC Series Robin Hood
We start with a father-daughter reading tarot cards about death, destruction and a fool - Robin Hood. John decides that the group should go off to the Summer Solstice celebrations. Hern warns Robin about "the King that was and the King that is to be". Next thing we know, blonde tarot-chick is fighting with a pair of ruffians while looking for Robin. Tuck rescues her.
Robin first refuses to help the girl, but then she shows him her father's ring and he sneaks off in the dark with her. The group is understandably upset in the morning and sets out. It turns out the ring is Robin's father's, given to Lord Agravain, i.e. the father of the blonde girl that came to fetch Robin. Then it turns out that Agravain is Robin's godfather. He has a treasure that he wants to give to Robin. "My child is a girl" says Agravain sadly, apparently girls are not worthy of inheritance??
So in short order we have a town ravaged and a castle under siege. Robin and girl defend the castle while Marian and group ride to help out. Of course Marian gets kidnapped and brought as a hostage. He chooses to open the castle to save Marian. The woman shoots him in the chest. Of course it's all a plot, he's wearing "medieval body armor".
It turns out this is the castle of Camelot complete with the round table. "It is the table that unites us". What, a wooden table is the only thing that matters?? Not a grail or sword or anything else metal or meaningful? Robin gets pressed into serving the table. He refuses. The daughter gets "second pick" and accepts.
I really wasn't thrilled with this one as far as character growth or plot or anything else.
