The Power of Albion
BBC Series Robin Hood
Robert and crew are back to their old tricks, stealing from the rich, giving to the poor with great glee. I found a few of these vignettes a little questionable - Robert shoots random guys and now the poor worker might be blamed for the death. The "rich guy" might have been a wonderful merchant who cared well for his people, and now he can't afford to pay them. There's not a lot of discrimination here in the stealing and killing.
Marian calls Robert to her room to warn him about a torturer that's coming to town. She also tries to turn over Albion, the sword of power, to him. "It was his sword," says Robert. He says he's not worthy of it yet. He hears some birds singing outside and says, "he must be in love", then kisses her hand and leaves.
Marian watches in the sword with psychic powers while Robert is shot with a poisoned bolt in the leg. Marian's dad tries to pressure her not to join up with the outlaws. Of course, Marian goes running to Robert's aid. He tries to pressure her into coming back to the group, but she says she needs time. The next thing we know, the Sheriff has grabbed Marian, so Robert goes in pretending to be a friend of the Sheriff. He sets up a whole trade where he lets himself be captured, to trade for the prisoners.
Robin, as he's now known, is found out and rides back to the group. Marian says she'll stay too. Robin has the sword, and Herne shows up to bless the group. Yup, they even kneel.
This was really a "quick" episode, its main purpose was the convince the remaining stragglers to really join the group and to make sure that everyone now accepted him as Robin. This just isn't one of my favorites. Now maybe the storyline can actually begin to move forward :)
