Liet-Kynes
Kynes is an offworlder planetologist, employed by Emperor Shaddam to watch over Arrakis, who has been accepted by the Fremen as a member of their society. The fremen call him Liet and follow him as a religious leader. He has embarked on an ambitious program to help bring water to the world of Arrakis. He dies when the Harkonnens retake Arrakis. They throw him into the desert without a stillsuit, and he is killed by an erupting pre-spice mass.
