Mums Growing Information and Photos

Mums are short for "Chrysanthemums" which is the full name of this flower. The flowers are in the genus of Chrysanthemum - makes sense! Mums are originally from China and are treasured there. In many countries they are used as funeral flowers.

Mums tend to bloom in the fall. I like to put out pots of mums on my steps in the autumn.

Mums come in a variety of styles. Many people know the multi layered, fluffy style of mums which come in colors such as orange, yellow, and red.

There are also single petaled versions of mums which look more like colored daisies. These are red single petaled mums. I thought the plant had died, but I tended to it over the next summer. Sure enough, it bloomed in October!
