Breakfast at Tabacon
We woke up bright and early and walked down a short path to the breakfast buffet area, right by its own pool and jacuzzi. It was a thatched roof over open sides, since the weather here was always so nice. No walls needed! There were cereals, various breakfast foods and omelets made to order. We weren't able to get coffee or tea until we were about ready to leave, but we were fascinated by the orange juicer which took real oranges automatically and squoze them. We saw many other people fascinated by this machine too :)
We saw the couple from the plane - they must have shown up very late! We also saw the London pair of women. I imagine if you stay here for more than a day that you quickly get to know everyone - there are probably only 60 people total here.
I saw my first hummingbird on my balcony and took a lot of photos :) The Arenal Volcano was now hidden by clouds although it would poke out occasionally.

Jenn commented that it was almost like Disneyland here, with everything clean and lovely and sunny. That she had to remind herself that we were in the real place, not a pretty recreation of it.
We got our stuff together and went to the front lobby to check out. Then we hung out there until 8:30, when our van came to pick us up. We had booked a combo taxi - boat - taxi ride to Monteverde. This was only $25 each and cut out the 4 hour long trip around the dam's circumfrence, that was the only other option to get to Monteverde. On a map Arenal and Monteverde are close - but there is no way directly over the mountains.

Here are some photos from the lobby area.
