Travelling to Monteverde
The first part of our trip to Monteverde was a quick van ride to the boats. We were stopped for maybe 10 minutes by road construction, but in general this trip was quick and easy, maybe 20 minutes total. When the van stopped, we were at one end of a large lake, and Arenal volcano was towering over us.
We waited for our boat to come in, while a local woman in a Star Trek hat busily bleach-washed the bright orange kiddie life vests. I was concerned, but then our boat came in with brand new vest-style life vests. Of course they only seemed to have enough for half of our group, so it's a good thing I can swim :)
The ride over to the other side of the lake was maybe 20 minutes, and was gorgeous. The scenery was simply beautiful, very relaxing.

Soon we were at the other end, where a smaller 9-person minivan picked us up.
