In essence think of a thin, clear rectangle of Jello - about an inch thick. You paint this surface with paint any way you wish. You scrape away paint in some areas and mix up colors in other areas. When you're done, you press a piece of paper down against that surface.
Voila! You have a once-of-a-kind monotype!
