Origami Dove
The dove is one of the oldest symbols of everlasting faith and love. In Biblical times, it was the dove who was trusted to bring back the olive branch to Noah, to tell him the flood was coming to an end.

Doves are known to mate for life. Turtle Doves are a featured part of the 12 Days of christmas, with "two turtle doves" being right at the beginning of the song! White doves are often released at wedding celebrations. A pair of origami doves then becomes the perfect first wedding anniversary gift, since the first anniversary theme is "paper". It combines the beautiful symbolism of the doves with the high quality origami paper!
There are even popular songs about doves, including Steve Nicks who sang about being "just like a white winged dove".

These pastel origami doves are made from a single piece of paper - the pattern of the paper is such that one pair of corners are white, while the other pair are a color. It creates a beautiful effect!

You can also use a dove, laid down flat, as a centerpiece for a card. This is a beautiful way to celebrate a wedding, Christmas, or any other faith based event.

The dove is the symbol of peace.

This next dove was a special creation. I began with white origami paper which I hand-painted with tangerine watercolors - first on one side, then the other. So it was hand painted on both sides before folding.

Here's a matching origami dove, also hand-done with watercolors, this one in sherbet green.

This pair of origami doves is created with special double-sided paper, in sherbet green and tangerine orange.

Note that this dove design is made from a square piece of origami washi paper. There is also a different style of dove which is made from a rectangular sheet of paper, which can be made either with dollar bills or washi paper that I hand cut into a rectangular shape. Origami Money Dove
