My mother was a Shay and her father was born Shea but changed it at some point to Shay. My grandfather was James Joseph Shay b. 6 Sept. 1873 in Boston, the son of Dennis Shea b. c1826 in Ireland. James had two brothers: Michael Shea b. 28 Sept 1863, and Daniel Shea b. 1874. That is about all the information I have.
