Con Air Buffer and Exfoliator

I have to admit that my boyfriend warned me this was a stupid device to buy long before I bought it. This buffer from Con Air ran about $60. It included a wand-like device that plugged into the wall, and a spinning "sanding disc" that you pressed against your leg to sand away the hair. Yes, I am serious, you are sanding your leg just like you sand the top of a hard wood table. I know it sounds really stupid and I hesitated a lot before I bought it ... but the ads said painless! They said silky smooth! I figured I should at least TRY it.

Sure enough, this thing was not painless. I'm not sure how they could convince anyone that sanding your flesh was a painless thing or a normal way to exfoliate. I have been to spas and have home exfoliating systems - they involve GENTLE gloves or sandy lotion being rubbed against your skin. In this case it's a spinning sanding disk, quite fast, that is powered and is DRY. They tell you not to mind the 'dust' that collects while you do it - that it's your dead skin. While a spinning disk is fine for your heel or other tough body parts, it just isn't good for your gentle leg skin.

I'm sitting here 2 hours later and my legs are still hurting even though I was very light with the touch while doing my legs, and my legs are pretty 'rough'. I go camping and hiking. I don't have delicate Queen Elizabeth legs. And yet, big surprise, running a sanding disk against them without any lubrication caused them harm.

To top it off, my legs aren't even stubble free. Despite paying close attention to where the stubble was, the sanding disk simply did not remove it all. They warn you against using this on bumpy parts like ankles and knees. Hello, these are your legs!! My legs have many nooks and crannies where the front goes in a bit and the back of the knee is indented and such. The large circular 'sanding disk' was completely hopeless in getting into those areas.

I do have to admit that the dust-covered leg parts that were stubble free were on the smooth side. But I really think they were just as smooth if not smoother when I put lotion on them after a shave.

This was a huge waste of $60 in my opinion. Not only was it painful and non-effective, but they say to keep using it at least 11 times to really make sure you've got the hang of it before you call it quits. That really seems to be either to wear out your pain sensors so they stop registering, and to go past your return date on your purchase so you are stuck with it and can't bring it back. I just can't imagine why I would choose to use this over other methods.

Follow-up note - my legs were still in pain the next day. Avoid at all costs.
