Laura Joh Rowland - Sano IchiroI ran the Mensa Feudal Japan group for over 10 years, and have loved the Japanese culture since childhood. I naturally was thrilled when I found out that Laura Joh Rowland had written a mystery series based in Japan of 1690! This is the period of "peace" for the Japanese - it's after the large civil wars covered much of the land, but before they opened up their borders to outsiders. It's a fascinating time in which to set mystery stories.
